Wood Fence Styles and Privacy Options

Wood Fencing

Plan a wood privacy fence around everyday use

Compare solid privacy and more open board arrangements, the proposed lumber, post construction and gate layout. A natural wood appearance comes with upkeep: discuss cleaning, finish options and inspection rather than assuming every board or treatment performs the same. Grade changes, shade and access can affect the proposed installation.

For a backyard in Lehigh Acres or a residential project in Buckingham, identify the views you want to screen and the routes needed for lawn equipment. Our Alva fence company and regional service team can help define the project before you compare quotes. Shared material options also serve our other Southwest Florida locations.

What should a wood fence estimate include?

Ask for the board arrangement, height, posts, gate openings, removal work and finish scope. Confirm property boundaries and applicable requirements for the actual site. Send photos and approximate lengths with your inquiry; no finished price or completion date is implied by these examples.

Board to Board

This style is the most popular wood fence style in Lee County, Charlotte County and Hendry County. Each wooden picket is placed next to each other for privacy.

Board on Board

This style of wood fence is the heaviest of wood fences. Boards are place a couple of inches apart and then another board is centered on top of the space.

Shadowbox Wood Fence

This style of wood fence is another popular choice. It provides privacy and adds a textured look to the fence. Boards are placed evenly apart on both sides of the cross bar.

Horizontal Wood Fence

This horizontal wood fence is becoming more and more popular in Southwest Florida. It provides a good deal of privacy and is aesthetically pleasing. The boards are run horizontally instead of vertically.

Pine Wood

We use natural pine wood for our wood fencing.

Hand Built Wood Fences

We hand build all of our wooden fences. We do not use the pre-fab panels that you can see in the large home improvement stores. We use heavier posts and cross bars making for a stronger and more secure fence.
